**Can I upgrade the SYNC^®* system to a newer SYNC system?**

Previous versions of SYNC hardware cannot be upgraded to a newer SYNC System. For example:

SYNC 4 cannot be upgraded to SYNC 4A.
SYNC 3 cannot be upgraded to SYNC 4 or 4A.
SYNC with MyFord Touch cannot be upgraded to SYNC 3.

Note: While you cannot upgrade to a newer SYNC generation, you can still check if your SYNC is operating on the latest software version. To check for software updates, visit either:
