What is Phone As A Key in FordPass?

The Phone As A Key feature allows you to turn your phone into a key fob with the FordPass® App and set up a maximum of four keys per vehicle. Use the details below for more information. 

Important: It is recommended to always have your key fob present when using Phone As A Key.

Phone As A Key Controls

In addition to your Remote Commands, you can also control the following:

  • Roll Windows Up/Down
  • Open/Close Frunk 
  • Open/Close Trunk††
  • Activate Horn & Lights

Phone As A Key Requirements

To use Phone As A Key, you must meet the requirements below:

  • FordPass is downloaded to your device, you have an active account, and you are logged in. 
  • Your vehicle is added to FordPass and Phone As A Key is available for your vehicle.
  • Facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, or a passcode is set up on your mobile device. 
  • Your Customer Connectivity Settings are enabled. 
  • Your FordPass® Connect modem is activated.
  • Your phone's Bluetooth® is enabled and running version 4.2 or greater.
  • You have a supported mobile device running:
    • iOS® 16.0 and later.
    • Android™ 9.0 and later.
  • Your phone must be within Bluetooth Low Energy Range (between 30-40 meters). 
  • Your phone must be within two meters for passive entry.
