What do I do if Phone As A Key will not open my door?

If you are experiencing an issue with Phone As a Key, ensure the requirements are met and perform the troubleshooting steps below. 

Phone As A Key Requirements

  • Your phone is at:
    • Bluetooth version is 4.2 and above
    • iOS version 13 and above or Android OS version 8 and above
  • You have the latest FordPass®* App version installed.
  • The mobile Location Service/Permissions are set properly:
    •  iOS - Always
    • Android - Allow all the time
  • The Vehicle Connectivity Settings are enabled.
  • The phone case has been removed from your device.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Hold your phone close to the door you would like to open.
    • If the issue persists, proceed to step 2.
  2. Try a different door.
    • If another door opens:
      • It may also allow the first door you tried to open to unlock.
      • This will be fixed in a future software update or if you would like to have the update sooner, visit your preferred Ford Dealer.
    • If other doors are not working, proceed to Step 3.
  3. Toggle Bluetooth off and then back on.
  4. If the door still will not open, force close and relaunch the app.
  5. If that does not work, reboot your device.
