How do I set up Phone As A Key with the FordPass App?

You can set up Phone As A Key™* on the FordPass®** Vehicle screen. After activating and connecting to your FordPass® Connect modem, use the steps below to get started.

Phone As A Key Requirements

To use Phone As A Key, you must meet the requirements below:

  • FordPass is downloaded to your device, you have an active account, and you are logged in.
  • Your vehicle is added to FordPass and Phone As A Key is available for your vehicle.
  • Facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, or a passcode is set up on your mobile device.
  • Your Customer Connectivity Settings are enabled.
  • Your FordPass Connect modem is activated.
  • Your phone's Bluetooth® is enabled and running version 4.2 or greater.
  • You have a supported mobile device running:
    • iOS® 16.0 and later.
    • Android™ 8.0 and later.

Setting up Phone As A Key 

  1. Log in to the FordPass App.
  2. Go to the Vehicle screen.
  3. Tap Setup in the Make this Phone a Key box. 
  4. Select Pair Device.

    Note: A prompt for Bluetooth access will appear.
     
  5. Tap OK to continue. The key download will begin.

    Note: If you tap Don't Allow the setup process will end.
     
  6. Select Copy on the next pop-up. 
  7. Paste your code.
  8. Select Pair or OK.
