How do I schedule Software Updates for my Ford?

Software updates are delivered directly to your SYNC®* 4A or SYNC 4-equipped vehicle through Wi-Fi** or FordPass® Connect (modem). Update requirements vary, but they typically occur in the background while you are driving.

For non-driveable updates, ensure your vehicle is always up-to-date, by setting up a recurring schedule. This ensures updates can occur when you do not need to drive.

Setting Up Software Updates

Important: Ensure that your vehicle is on and running in a well-ventilated area, and it is in Park (P).

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to schedule Software Updates. If your SYNC generation is not listed, it can not be updated with software updates.

Notes:

  • If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.
  • Actual screens may vary. See your Owner’s Manual for information specific to your vehicle.
