How do I use Ford BlueCruise*?

You can switch BlueCruise on or off using your steering wheel controls after a one-time setup.

One-Time Setup

To set up BlueCruise:

  1. Download the FordPass®** App and add your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
  2. Activate your FordPass Connect† modem on your vehicle’s centre screen display.
  3. Turn on Lane Centering with Hands-Free in the vehicle’s centre screen display.
    1. Select Features (SYNC 4®††) or Settings (SYNC 4A).
    2. Tap Driver Assistance.
    3. Choose Adaptive Cruise Control.
    4. Select Lane Centering with Hands-Free.

Note: Enable Activation Prompts and Speed Sign Recognition or Predictive Speed Assist (depending on your SYNC menus) to maximize BlueCruise functionality.

Enabling Additional BlueCruise Features

To enable additional features available for BlueCruise versions 1.2 or later, toggle on In-Lane Repositioning and Lane Change Assist after enabling Lane Centering with Hands-Free. 

Once You are On the Road

To turn on BlueCruise in your vehicle:

  1. Select the Adaptive Cruise Control button 7a5e760d-de14-4e37-80fc-78387a287896.png on your steering wheel.
  2. Make sure your Lane-Keeping System is on. If you do not see the icon on your instrument cluster 791973a6-9f22-484d-8962-0d31375ec5da.png, press the Lane Assist button 3079d7f9-a928-479b-a307-fce00c30fb6b.png on your steering wheel to turn it on. 
  3. Your instrument panel will turn blue and the hands-free icon ba7fdc13-d27b-4c03-9266-fea5a154ddb4.png will appear when you enter a hands-free Blue Zone.
  4. Drive hands-free with your eyes on the road.

Turning Off BlueCruise

BlueCruise can be switched off by pressing the:

  • Brake pedal.
  • Lane Assist button.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control button.

What is BlueCruise hands-free driving?

*Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle. Ford BlueCruise is a hands-free highway driving feature. Only remove hands from the steering wheel when in a Hands-Free Blue Zone. Always watch the road and be prepared to resume control of the vehicle. It does not replace safe driving. See your Owner's Manual for details and limitations.

Available Feature. Equipped Ford vehicles come with either a complimentary BlueCruise trial period or an included BlueCruise connected service plan duration, after which purchase is required. Modem activation through the FordPass® App is required for subscription purchase and for initial activation of BlueCruise (for pre-2024 model year vehicles).
