Which vehicles can get software updates?

Software updates are possible for Ford vehicles with in-vehicle technology of SYNC® 4 or higher. You can confirm your SYNC version here.

Why do I have to schedule an update?

Some updates require your vehicle to be parked with the ignition off for a short period of time, with only a two-minute window to cancel, should you need it. When you set a recurring schedule, you can ensure that these updates occur when you are not driving (e.g., overnight, during work, etc.). You’ll get an in-vehicle reminder before the update takes place.

Can I change my software update settings?

Yes, but it is not recommended. With Automatic Updates on, you will have a seamless update experience and receive the latest features and enhancements without missing a step.

Can I cancel a software update once it begins?

No, you cannot cancel a software update once it has started.

What do I do if I need help with a software update?

You can contact the Customer Relationship Centre, and someone will be happy to walk you through the process, or you can contact your dealer.

Is there a cost for software updates?

You will be notified if a Software Update has a cost associated with it.

What else should I know about software updates?

Keep an eye out for software update icons that might show up on your in-vehicle screen. These icons will inform you about your update once it is clicked. You can learn more about Software Updates here.

What is Ford BlueCruise?

Ford BlueCruise is a hands-free highway driving technology. This available driver-assistance feature builds on existing technologies, like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering Assist, to enable hands-free driving. BlueCruise helps make driving less stressful and more enjoyable, whether on a long road trip or daily commute.

How do I get the latest version of BlueCruise updates and maps?

Turn on automatic software updates and set a recurring update schedule, both of which can be done on your in-vehicle screen under Settings > Software Updates. Setting a recurring schedule is especially important for receiving updates that must happen while your vehicle is parked, like new BlueCruise versions. For help, visit our article on how to set a schedule.
